Texas is still red, maybe even more so after last November's election. And now the Republican Party of Texas wants to keep it that way by endorsing in local races across the state. Even some races that are considered 'non-partisan'.
"People say these races are non-partisan, but honestly there are no non-partisan races in the state of Texas or in this country" said Texas GOP Chair, Abraham George.
Because of the division in our nation, and the extreme ideology on the left, pretty much every election at every level is now important.
"We have many school boards, city council, and local races that we have extremely moderate Republicans or even hard left Democrats winning and changing the policies and the values of Texas" George told KTRH, "So we decided we're going to get involved in local races."
As noted in Texas Scorecard, there are currently 42 candidates from Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Johnson, Somervell, Tarrant, and Waller counties that have been endorsed by the Republican Party of Texas.
"They're going out there and knocking on doors and talking to people" noted George, "It's a coordinated effort between the county party, the state party, and the grass roots. It will be great."
Election Day is coming up soon on Saturday, May 3. Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22, and runs through Tuesday, April 29.
