Six people were arrested after police say shots were fired at Galveston Beach Friday afternoon.
Galveston Police responded to reports of a shooting in the city's West End. The beaches were packed with hundreds of Houston-area students who were gathered for "Senior Skip Day."
GPD said a gun was recovered from the scene. Thankfully, no one was struck by gunfire.
The identities, ages and charges of the six people arrested have not yet been released.
The incident also led to traffic jams and officers closing down roads and beach access points, which has since been reopened.
The police presence has picked up in the area along the island due to it being spring break time.
