Reports Of Injuries After Ammonia Leak At Plant In Matagorda County

According to the Matagorda County Office of Emergency Management (MCOEM), there were injuries after an ammonia leak at a plant in Matagorda County.

The leak happened at the Roehm USA facility located off FM 3087 southwest of Bay City, and according to our tv partner KPRC 2, the ammonia leak happened after a PSV valve failure in a brine cooler.

Officials say at no time was the public in any danger and the plant’s safety systems worked as designed to mitigate potential risks.

Authorities have not said how many workers needed to be transported to the hospital.
