President Trump announced this morning that he would be exempting Mexico from tariffs on any goods covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement (USMCA) until April 2nd of this year.
He made this announcement on Truth Social, while also saying he had a "good relationship" with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. He said, "We are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping illegal aliens from entering the United States, and likewise, stopping Fentanyl."
Sheinbaum also posted a statement to X in which she thanked Trump, saying, "We will continue working together, particularly on issues of migration and security, which include reducing the illegal crossing of fentanyl into the United States, as well as weapons into Mexico."
This follows an announcement from Trump that the Big Three Automakers, Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, would also be getting a one-month exemption from the tariffs.
