Texas House Majority Introduces New Transgender Public Bathroom Bill

There is growing support in Austin for a new House Bill that would ban biological men from using women's bathrooms in state and county buildings. The left is trying to frame it as a 'transgender' bill.

"House Bill 239 really harkens back to 2017, when Senate Bill 6 which was referred to as the 'bathroom bill' failed" said Mary Elise Cosgray, reporter with The Texan, "And it spurred heated debate. There were a lot of headlines over this."

But that was then, and this is now, with HB 239 already picking up majority support in the Texas House.

"I think it's very notable that HB 239 now has 75 co-authors in the House, one of which is a Democrat member" Cosgray told KTRH.

The bill is also being called the 'Texas Women's Privacy Act', and there is currently similar legislation already in effect in 15 other states.

As Cosgray also noted, any blue cities that are found to violate this law, these state agencies would face penalties of $5,000 for a first offense, then $25,000 for each subsequent one after that.
