The White House confirmed this morning that "The Big Three" automakers would be getting a one-month exemption from the Trump Administration tariffs that were implemented on Monday.

"The Big Three" refers to the Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Stellantis, who together share nearly 40% of the United States auto market in 2024.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Wednesday morning that the White House had spoken with The Big Three, and said, "Reciprocal tariffs will still go into effect on April 2, but at the request of the companies associated with USMCA, the president is giving them an exemption for one month so they are not at an economic disadvantage."

Leavitt went on to say that Trump told the three companies that they should start investing and moving their production into the United States.

This comes after Honda announced that they would be moving production of their next-generation Honda Civics to Indiana. They had originally planned to produce the popular car in Mexico.
