Vice President JD Vance has been all over the news since he and President Trump had an intense verbal exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week.
The VP was on to address the meeting with Sean Hannity on FOX News Monday evening. He says that he tried calming the growing tensions, but Zelenskyy had a clear lack of respect, and a sense of entitlement in trying to bargain his way to a peace deal.
"Most importantly, we can look past all that...but President Trump has set a very clear goal for his administration, he wants the killing to stop. It is very important for Zelenskyy and President Putin to come to the negotiating table, and that is where things broke apart," Vance said.
He added that he was trying to take the conversation behind closed doors, but President Trump wanted the American public to see the conversation. Zelenskyy ended up leaving the White House with no mineral rights deal, no ceasefire, and no extra money to fund his war.
Vance says that a peace deal is still on the table, but it comes down to compromises.
"The door is open, so long as Zelenskyy is willing to seriously talk peace," said Vance. "You cannot come into the Oval Office...and refuse to even discuss the details of a peace deal."
President Trump halted any additional aid to Ukraine on Monday afternoon.
