Illegal Border Crossings Plunge, Trump Declares Invasion Over

President Donald Trump says the "invasion of the US" is over, expressing relief at the quick reduction of migrants recorded crossing the southern US border in February, which is now said to be down to the lowest numbers in 25 years.

And in January, the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border was at its lowest since May 2020, according to US News and the US Border Patrol apprehended about 30,000, a drop of about 38% from the December statistics.

There were more than 8,400 apprehensions of illegals crossing the US-Mexico border during February,

In a Truth Social post, the President declared the invasion over.

"The border is closed to all illegal immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation," he wrote on Saturday.

Each of those caught were deported or, less often but "when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America."

And Trump compared the more than 8,000 apprehensions in February with the record 300,000 illegal border crossing during the Biden administration.
