Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced this morning that an officer-involved shooting occurred in the early morning hours.
According to the Sheriff, a man was acting erratically, damaging pumps at a gas station on the 10300 block of the North Freeway.
HCSO deputies responded to the scene, and initially, the man was compliant, but at some point during the encounter, he began to fight with deputies, resulting in a deputy shooting him.
The man was sent to a hospital, but according to reports from our TV partner Channel 2, he died after undergoing surgery.
One deputy was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be released today.
