The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have officially changed their name in order to do what they call "meet the evolving needs of young people."
On its 115th anniversary, the organization became Scouting America. The group announced that they would be undergoing a name change last year.
In a statement released Saturday, Scouting America said the name change is "marking a pivotal moment in the organization’s journey."
"The fact that we were going with a more kind of gender-neutral name, a lot of people kind of wanted to know more about it," President and CEO Roger Krone told the Associated Press.
Scouting America's total membership is more than 1 million. Girls were allowed to join the program starting in 2018.
