Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced this morning that he has instructed the Texas Military Department to deploy its Texas Tactical Border Force to the Rio Grande Valley to assist Federal border security officials.
400 soldiers are expected to depart from bases in Fort Worth and Houston as early as this morning, along with C-130 planes and Chinook helicopters.
Abbott's office released a statement saying, "Texas has a partner in the White House we can work with to secure the Texas-Mexico border," said Governor Abbott. "To support that mission, today, I deployed the Texas Tactical Border Force, comprised of hundreds of troops, to work side-by-side with U.S. Border Patrol agents to stop illegal immigrants from entering our country and to enforce immigration laws."
Abbott went on to thank President Trump for his leadership and said he looks forward to continuing to work with President Trump on securing the border.
