Chip Roy Reintroduces Bill To Repeal Law Used To Throw Pro-Lifers In Prison

On the heels of this past weekend's March for Life in Washington, and the Texas Rally for Life in Austin, Texas congressman Chip Roy has reintroduced a bill that would repeal the FACE act.

That was the law on the books that the Biden-Harris weaponized DOJ used to target pro-life advocates and put them in prison.

"To unfairly target pro-life advocates, while ignoring vandalism and violent acts against pregnancy centers in churches, and that's not justice" said Amy O'Donnell, communications director at Texas Alliance for Life, "We're very grateful to representative Chip Roy for seeking to protect peaceful pro-lifer's from the weaponization of the FACE act so that they continue."

It would be a long overdue, and welcomed change as 97% of FACE act prosecutions have been against pro-life advocates.

Thankfully, president Trump as promised, released 23 pro-life protestors who had been thrown in jail under the Biden regime.

In a statement to KTRH, Chip Roy said: It is tremendous news to hear the news that President Trump pardoned the brave pro-life Americans who were unjustly targeted by Biden’s weaponized DOJ. These Americans are peaceful, pro-life Americans who were singled out and targeted by their government solely because of their beliefs.

This the a tremendous step towards righting the wrongs done under Biden, but Congress must also take the step to repeal the FACE act to ensure it can never again be weaponized by a future administration. That's why last Congress I introduced legislation to repeal it with my friend, Sen. Mike Lee.

97% of FACE Act prosecutions between the years of 1994-2024 were initiated against pro-life Americans; it is laughable to argue that the law hasn't been weaponized. Let's put H.R. 589 on the President's desk and end this once and for all.

At Texas Alliance for Life, they also hope this will be the end to a dark chapter in our history.

"Texas Alliance for Life strongly supports the initiative to repeal the FACE act, and we're so thankful that congressman Roy is leading the way on that" noted O'Donnell, "We definitely don't want to leave the door open for the act to be weaponized again in the future."

It was another great weekend in Austin, for Texas Alliance for Life, as thousands of pro-life Texans, numerous state-wide pro-life leaders, and elected officials all gathered to march to the south steps of the Capitol for the annual Texas Rally for Life.
