Donald Trump is officially the 47th President of the United States after taking the oath of office at 12:00 p.m. EST in the Capitol Rotunda.

J.D. Vance was also sworn in as the Vice President of the United States just moments before.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the President, saying, "Today marks the beginning of a new era in our nation—one brimming with promise and hope."

Following his oath of office, President Trump gave a speech, saying, "Our top priority will be to create a nation which is proud, prosperous, and free. America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before."

Trump also announced that he would be reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy from his first term, and declaring cartels to be foreign terrorist organizations.
