A cease-fire deal has been reached between Israel and Hamas that also includes the release of hostages.
A senior Hamas official confirmed to Fox News that a deal was reached. President-elect Donald Trump also announced the news of a deal Wednesday.
“WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Delegations from the U.S., Egypt and Qatar worked to secure the agreement. It says that 33 hostages are expected to be released over the next 42 days.
The two sides have been fighting for the last 15 months in the Gaza Strip after Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023.
