Pete Hegseth, Trump's nominee to be the Secretary of Defense, has completed his first Senate confirmation hearing. The hearing got fiery at times, with Hegseth facing accusations of everything from fiscal irresponsibility to sexual assault.
One particular highlight moment occurred when Hegseth and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sparred on the issue of generals working in lucrative defense contracting positions after their military careers.
Hegseth also had to endure attacks on the nature of his family from Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA); he was praised widely online for his response to those attacks.
It wasn't all uphill battles. Hegseth and fellow veteran Tim Sheehy (R-MT) shared a moment of laughs when Sheehy asked Hegseth about standard military equipment and how many genders there were.
