Cucumbers and eggs sold in the United States and Canada are being recalled over salmonella concerns.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the SunFed Produce cucumbers were sold in over two dozen states, including Texas, and in Canada. The recall affects cucumbers sold in the states between October 12 and November 26. Cucumbers packaged in bulk cardboard containers that have the "SunFed" label or the label "Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.," the grower’s name, are ones being pulled from stores and restaurants.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 68 people were sickened after eating the cucumbers, including 18 who were hospitalized.
As a safety measure, customers are advised to check their cucumbers that they have and dispose of any that are within the recall dates.
More than 10,000 cartons of eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand were voluntarily recalled over a possible salmonella contamination too, although no one has reportedly gotten sick from them. The eggs were sold in Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee at 25 Costco stores beginning Nov. 22.
