It's about to be a busy travel week no matter if you're going by land or air.
According to the TSA, 1.7 million people are expected to pass through Houston's Bush IH airport from November 26th through December 2nd, while Houston's Hobby airport is expected to see roughly 500,000 passengers in the same time period. That's a record for Thanksgiving travel, up 9 percent nationwide from two years ago, up two percent from last year. Meanwhile in San Antonio, TSA Data shows a 12 percent spike in holiday travel with more than 173,000 passengers expected at The San Antonio Airport this week.
FAA staffing shortages could cause holiday air travel delays this week. The Federal Aviation Administration says it'll try to avoid air traffic slowdowns as long as the skies stay safe for travelers. With Thanksgiving this week, tomorrow is expected to be the busiest travel day with almost three-million travelers.
AAA Texas says they 5.3 million Texans get out on the highways week as well. The busiest travel says on the roads is expected to be Tuesday and Sunday while the lightest traffic wil be on Thanksgiving Day.
