One of president-elect Trump's bigger campaign promises, is having Elon Musk head up 'DOGE', the Department of Government Efficiency to overhaul wasteful government spending.
"There is an incredible opportunity to really reboot the American founding idea of liberty and limited government" said John Hart, CEO of Open The Books, "This is not a demolition project, this is a restoration and renovation. It's about shifting authority from the government, back to we the people."
Musk, who will partner with Vivek Ramaswamy, has set a goal to cut $2 trillion in federal spending. As for what we could see cut? Trump has talked a lot about ending the radical left Department of Education.
"Everything is going to be on the table" Hart told KTRH, "I think when you look at the Department of Education, you can certainly shift a lot of what the department does into other agencies and dramatically downsize it. Education is something that really ought to be done at the state and local level."
Some experts have warned that Trump will need congressional approval to dismantle the DOE, which was established in 1979 under former president Jimmy Carter.
