As we noted here at KTRH, Texas lawmakers have begun filing bills, even though the next legislative session doesn't officially begin until January 14.
Some of the big items on the agenda we've been aware of since the summer, like school choice and immigration. But something that might be a sleeper, could be the return of Lt. Governor, Dan Patrick's 2017 'bathroom bill', which would keep biological boys out of girls bathrooms.
"There's already a bill that's been filed by Senator Mayes Middleton that tackles this issue" said Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values, "It shouldn't be any surprise that we would see the Texas legislature take up these important issues. Let's restore common sense, and let's protect privacy and safety for our girls."
Texas lawmakers are also targeting property taxes, abortion, and another State Senator, Phil King, has filed legislation to refund Houstonian's for unused CenterPoint generators.
