Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Says Joining the Trump Administration is Not Happening

Two-term Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he will stay in Texas and not take a spot in the Trump administration.

It was speculated that Patrick would join the cabinet of President-elect Donald Trump but it appears he has put those speculations to rest in a post made to X, formerly Twitter.

"I will continue to do all I can to help my friend, President Trump, succeed over the next four years, but I’ll do it from Texas," part of Patrick's statement read.

Patrick previously served as Trump's Texas campaign chairman and was a regular visitor to the White House during Trump's first term. He said his top policy priority heading into 2025 is school choice.

"I have fought for school choice since my time as a Senator," Patrick said in another X post. "As Lt. Governor, I passed it in my first session and repeatedly since then. Each time, the Republican-led House blocked it. Now, after hard-fought primary and general election battles, the House should finally have the votes to pass it."
