Democrats pumped $77 million into Colin Allred's campaign to flatline again

Democrats have been trying to turn Texas blue for 30 years now and have tried hardest in the Senate. They have tried unseating Ted Cruz twice now. In 2018, Robert Francis O'Rourke visited all 254 Texas counties, and raised $80 million to lose by 2.5 points, in a race that was never truly in doubt. Then in 2024, Colin Allred came to the forefront, spending $77 million in his effort to unseat Cruz, all to get blown out, and lose by almost 10 whole points.

The main strategy of the Left has been to just funnel money into Texas, then hope and pray there is some mystical blue wave. It has not happened, time and again. They just end up looking foolish and wasting money in a state that has not elected a Democrat for statewide office since 1992.

Turns out, running ad after ad saying that you played football was not necessarily beneficial. Melissa Mackenzie of the American Spectator says Allred hurt himself in the end.

"There becomes a saturation point where it becomes a net negative to be doing that many ads," she says.

It was all you saw for the last four to six months. Especially watching football games. By the way, did you know Colin Allred played football?

You can spend all the money you want, and run as many ads as you want, but if you lose touch with your base, and with what voters want, you will lose. That is exactly what happened. People do not care about abortion, or transgender rights. They want to be able to afford groceries, have more money, and live in a safe environment. Allred never promoted any of that, and it cost him.

You would expect them to change the strategy, and focus on new ideas, like putting Americans first. But that would mean expecting Progressives to have some semblance of basic logic, which they have proven they lack entirely.

The Democrat playbook, since we are sticking with the football theme here, is always just pump money into something, and hope it works out. But they might not have all that much to play with moving forward to actually change things up.

"They have been getting money not just from Soros...but from nefarious overseas actors, like Russia or China, which gave a lot of money to throw around," she says. "That is not going to be the case going forward."

Of course, the Soros family will keep pumping their fortune into the Democrats because that is what they do, even though it has yet to truly work.

As with Beto in 2018, Allred losing now puts Democrats, especially in Texas in a precarious spot. They have no fresh, up and coming face to get behind, and work to get the vote out.

"Nationally, they have no idea how to message a Texas Democrat, so they are becoming a dying breed...they are leaderless and divided, and it takes a while to come out of that wilderness," she says.

Whether or not they decide to change course is up in the air. But the track record shows they never learn their lesson, even when being beat down time and again. It might be time to look inward and realize the strategy is not working, rip it down to the studs, and start over fresh.
