After what many have called the most important election in American history, Donald Trump has been elected to be the 47th President of the United States. This was a high-turnout election, with nearly 140 million Americans voting.
Political consultant Bill Miller told KTRH that for a variety of reasons, this election became one that was meaningful and purposeful, and people voted "because they cared."
Here in Texas, voters showed up big for both President-elect Trump and Senator Ted Cruz, who each won their races in Texas by huge margins. Miller said, "Cruz blew Allred right off the table. You've got south Texas turning more Republican than ever before. Historically so."
Miller said that if this election told us anything, it's that Texas is still a long way out from being a swing state. He said, "This is a state that isn't turning blue, it's not turning purple, it's not even turning pink. It's a red state."
