Republican Senator Ted Cruz is projected to defeat Democrat challenger Colin Allred to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate.
Fox News called the race for Cruz at 8:25 CT. With 63% of the vote reported at the time, Cruz led Allred by over 400,000 votes (five points) with that lead increasing.
In the 8 o'clock hour, Donald Trump was projected as the winner of the state of Texas in the race for the presidency.
