Early voting was expected to draw a big turnout across Texas yesterday. And it did.
More than 152,000 votes were cast in Harris County alone on Monday. Of those, 125,000 were people who voted in person. Long lines were reported at voting centers , including the West Gray Multi-service Center.
The big numbers were something we saw from across the state as well, where more than 600,000 Texans voted on Monday. That total does not include several counties, including Dallas, tarrant, and Galveston.
Voters in Dallas County reported long lines and long wait times. County officials there said it was because of a software glitch. Dallas County was one of the counties state officials said it was looking into this past weekend after machines there failed during testing.
Polls re-open at 7am Tuesday. The early voting period runs through a week from Friday, November first.
