The popular Democratic fundraising website ActBlue is now under investigation by the Texas Attorney General, who has raised concerns about it potentially being used to interfere with the presidential election.
Paxton said in a statement posted on X that his office has found evidence suggesting that "bad actors" can exploit loopholes in ActBlue to disguise donations to the Harris campaign. Paxton is now petitioning the FEC to close those loopholes.
Paxton now joins a number of other Republican elected officials who have called on the FEC to tighten fundraising rules and require that political donations include the three or four-digit CVV code on the back of a credit card along with the donation.
According to reports, ActBlue has raised around $1.5 billion from an estimated 7 million different donors and funneled that money into nearly 19,000 different Democrat campaigns.
