A 17-year-old is charged with murder in the shooting death of the stepfather of a girl he was allegedly stalking.
Cristian Gasca Martinez allegedly gunned down Osvaldo Casas, 37, outside of his home in southeast Houston on Aug. 10. Martinez did not appear in probable cause court Saturday but was still given the charge by a judge.
Court documents say Martinez was stalking Casa’s 16-year-old stepdaughter. The judge in the case said Martinez grew angry that the teen girl did not want to date him. He then allegedly assaulted and unlawfully restrained her and also called her repeatedly until the girl blocked his phone number. The judge also said Martinez posted threats on social media.
The mother of the daughter said Martinez would stalk her daughter and their house for multiple days. The family also says the two teens never actually dated.
Martinez’s bond has been set at $200,000. He will appear in court Monday.
