An advisory from the Texas Secretary of State raised major concerns last week about the security of the November 5th election. The advisory allowed non-citizen driver's licenses to be used as voter ID.
Harris County GOP Chairman Cindy Siegel told KTRH, "Our concern is that there will be a lot of non-citizens who use this license as a means to vote."
Siegel says another problem was that this could have exposed election workers to legal risk, as they're liable if non-citizens vote. She said, "People will say, 'I don't want to put myself at risk. How can I make that decision?' It's just created a lot more confusion."
Thankfully, on Friday night, the advisory was amended, so if you plan on voting with a non-citizen driver's license, you'll need to bring additional proof of naturalization.
