Vance Debates Walz, CBS Moderators in New York

The first and only vice-presidential debate took place last night with a backdrop of several crises happening at home and abroad.  Ohio Senator JD Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz covered topics include ongoing relief efforts in the Southeast after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene and dockworkers on the East and Gulf Coasts going on strike.

On Healthcare - JD Vance says a second Trump administration would make sure Americans with pre-existing conditions are able to get healthcare coverage. During Tuesday's debate hosted by CBS News, Vance touted former President Trump's record on health care during his time in the White House.

On School Safety - Vance said security must be increased at schools including more resource officers. Meanwhile, Tim Walz said as a gun owner he understands the Second Amendment is there, but the country's first responsibility is to children.

Donald Trump criticized Tuesday’s vice-presidential debate from social media. The former president made several posts on truth social calling Walz "obviously not very bright," adding that Walz was taking notes "to keep his brain intact" during the debate. Trump also insulted the debate moderators, calling them "extremely biased anchors" and said they incorrectly fact-checked Vance.

Much like the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Vance was debating Walz and the CBS moderators. You can watch how he fact checked them below.
