The Astros will not appear in the American League Championship Series for an eights straight season.

The 'Stros lost to the Detroit Tigers 5-2 and were swept out of the playoffs in the Wild Card Round by one of the youngest teams in Major League Baseball, led by former Astros manager A.J. Hinch.

The "Stros fell behind 1-0 on a Parker meadows home run in the sixth inning, but scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead. Unfortunately, the Tigers came right back with four runs in the eighth inning, and the Astros could not close the gap.

The last time the Astros fell short of the ALCS was in 2016.

The loss at Minute Maid Park may have been the final game in the Astros career of third baseman Alex Bregman, who is scheduled to become a free agent. It may also be the last time we see Justin Verlander in an Astros uniform.
