A system currently in the Gulf of Mexico now has a 70% chance of tropical development.
The National Hurricane Center said the system will likely become a tropical depression and be called Helene. However, the odds of the system impacting Texas are lessening as it's more likely that the system will hit between Louisiana and Florida.
The storm is projected to grow stronger and bring heavy rain across Central America over the next few days and then move northward to hit the southeastern coastal states around Tuesday or Wednesday.
