Yesterday saw the second attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, less than three full weeks since Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania. Thankfully, the GOP nominee was not hurt during the incident.

Trump was golfing at his course in Florida when Secret Service agents, who were scouting ahead to ensure the course was safe, spotted a rifle barrel peeking out from some bushes. Secret Service opened fire on the would-be shooter, forcing him to flee the scene.

Ryan Wesley Routh was identified by a witness as the alleged shooter. A bystander saw him flee the scene and was able to capture images of his vehicle, leading authorities to stop and arrest him. Authorities said Routh allegedly shoved the muzzle of his rifle through a chain-link fence about 300 to 500 yards away from Trump.

Routh appeared in a federal court this morning, and is currently being charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and one count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Trump took to social media to assure his supporters that he was safe and well, and also said, "Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again."
