Vice President Kamala Harris did her first solo sit-down interview recently ever since becoming the Democratic nominee for President.
The interview was with Philadelphia's 6 ABC anchor Brian Taff. Critics called some of Harris's answers to the questions from Taff as being too long and lacking any substance. When asked about how she plans to bring down the cost of living for middle-class Americans, Harris responded with, "I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard. She was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager. I grew up in a community of hard-working people. I try to explain to some people who may not have had the same experience. You know, a lot of people will relate to this."
Of the few policies people do know about, Harris wants to give start-up businesses a "$50,000 tax deduction" and new home buyers "$25,000 down payment assistance." She's also proposed price controls on groceries.
ABC News faced a lot of criticism for how they moderated the first and perhaps only presidential debate between Harris and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last week. Trump blasted the moderators for being one-sided and only fact-checking things he said and not at all what Harris was saying during the debate. Trump said he would only do another debate with Harris if he was in the right mood.
