CenterPoint Energy says crews have continued to work on making their infrastructure more resilient since Hurricane Beryl hit at the end of June. Since then, personnel have installed more than 1,100 fiberglass electrical poles, which can withstand stronger winds than older wooden poles.
The utility provider also said they have 2,00 frontline workers and more than 600 vegetation management crew members actively preparing for the potential storm. CenterPoint started they have 5,000 workers on standby to respond if needed.
Darin Carroll, Senior Vice President, Electric Business said in a written release:
“While our weather experts work to determine the path, intensity and timing of the tropical activity, we remain vigilant and are fully focused on executing on our storm preparation plan. We are in the process of mobilizing all of our available resources and mutual assistance resources from other utility companies so we will be prepared to safely and quickly restore power to our customers should this tropical system impact our area,”
CenterPoint says they have updated the online outage tracker to better keep customers informed in the event of a power outage.
