Female student, man found dead at Rice University residence hall

A homicide investigation is underway at Rice University after a female student and man were found dead on campus.

Police say that happened at a residential hall on the campus, where they were called around 4:50 Monday afternoon. During a welfare check, they found a female student dead in her room. Another man, who was not a student, was also found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Students and staff were told to shelter-in-place for about three hours while officials conducted processed the scene. Classes were also canceled for the rest of Monday.

No further information has been released, as their investigation continues.
