Harris County Constables are set to get a 17% pay increase thanks to a salary grievance committee.
The committee, made up of local residence, approved the grievance request on Tuesday.
They awarded a $45,000 pay increase to all eight constables, which takes them from a base of $133,000 a year to $178,000 a year.
The Commissioners recently approved the first raise for elected officials since 2016, which included the constables. That raise, however, was only 9.2%, which would still have had them making less than their chief deputies.
