Trump's favorability still strong despite Harris's recent polling

Vice President Kamala Harris may have seen a massive boost in many different polls ever since she replaced President Joe Biden as the presidential nominee for the Democrat party but favorability for former President Donald Trump has remained strong too.

Biden was falling behind Trump in too many polls, leading to his VP replacing him on the party's ticket. For the moment, it looks like Harris is doing better than Trump in the polls during what many Republicans are referring to as her "honeymoon" period.

Brent Buchanan, President & Founder of Cygnal Polling, said Trump has not dropped at all in the polls ever since the shake-up from his opponents.

"He's actually been able to increase his favorability over the last several months starting with the court cases and convictions to the assassination attempt and RNC convention," Buchanan said.

With that, Buchanan also believes the positive polling on display for Harris recently is "unsustainable."

"You don't normally see somebody's image swing that hard and to be able to stay in that place," said Buchanan. "Whatever fundamentals allowed that to move that quickly means it can move just as quickly in the opposite direction."

It's been more than 25 days since Harris officially replaced Biden as the nominee. In that time frame, she has not held a formal press conference or sat down for an interview to answer some questions on her policies and vision for the country.

Despite that, the media has put a lot of effort into positively portraying the Harris-Walz campaign in a positive light and have not focused on figuring out about more of her other policies, aside from the economic proposals she's made that are communist in nature.

"If we saw the media put as much effort into nonstop positive coverage of Trump like they have with Kamala, he would be ahead by 10," Buchanan said.

Some Democrats have even called for Harris to not talk about her policies out loud, believing the party may be better off if she doesn't speak.

The first presidential debate between Trump and Harris is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Philadelphia and will be hosted by ABC News.
