Even though there are legal proceedings going on, Democrats on Harris County Commissioners Court approve what amounts to Uplift Harris 2.0.
County Judge Lina Hidalgo made the announcement official this afternoon, after a 4 to 1 vote in favor of the program. The lone vote against it came from Republican Tom Ramsey of Precinct 3.
The original program was put on hold by the Texas Supreme Court in June after Attorney General Ken Paxton stepped in to stop it.
Reaction to today's announcement from Republicans was swift, and harsh.
