Study confirms AI is "left-leaning," more biased against conservatives

An academic study from Otago Polytechnic University in New Zealand has found that popular AI language models like ChatGPT are consistently "left-leaning."

David Rozado, an associate professor at the university, conducted the study which examined how artificial intelligence language models leaned in their political preferences. The study analyzed 24 Large Language Models (LLMs) using 11 different political orientation tests. The tests found that the AI models were consistent in showing ideologies that were more progressive and democratic.

Political strategist Raven Harrison said a majority of AI language models are not just "left-leaning" but very much "left."

"Chat GPT was created by a radical left-leaning firm, it was designed to push the propaganda for the left," she said.

Some of the more prominent AI models that were looked at included OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, Google’s Gemini, Meta's Llama and X's Grok. The models were given politically motivated questions as a part of the tests to figure out political affiliations and personality traits.

Harrison said when AI was first created, there was no way of regulating it. She described it as "open season" for people to generate political content through AI models.

"They're taking advantage of a gigantic loophole that allows anybody with a computer to generate political content," said Harrison. "They're used to be regulations on who can control and create that type of content."

Now, we don't have that, leading to plenty of issues with trying to figure out what's fake and what's true.

Harrison predicts the AI models that are already a tool of the left will be ramping up their bias during this election season to try and give as much of a boost as they can to the Democrat party.

"They have an unelectable candidate who didn't receive a single primary vote who is now paying influencers and trying to skew the scales," Harrison said about Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

To try and combat these efforts from the left, Harrison said it's about being bigger than the cheat. Consistently getting the right information and the truth out there to the American people is what she wants to see more of moving forward.
