A woman waiting for a bus ride home is dead after a career criminal hit her during a police chase.
That began as a traffic stop in Montgomery County, where police found 43-year-old Joseph Jebbia, who was wanted for aggravated assault. Jebbia ran from police, taking them on a reckless pursuit down Interstate 45, driving head-on toward officers at one point.
The chase spilled off to West Road, where the woman was waiting for a bus on the side of the road. Jebbia ran a red light and caused a chain reaction crash. His car ended up hitting and killing the woman, only identified as a Hispanic in her 50s.
Jebbia continued to run after the crash and was eventually apprehended off Highway 249. Inside his car, police found nearly a kilo of fentanyl, guns, ammunition, and body armor.
Police say Jebbia is a career criminal with a lengthy history.
