The Biden green agenda push has been ongoing since he took office, and for Democrats, has been an almost decade long effort. Their theory is that by changing all out existing infrastructure to green, renewables, we will 'save the planet,' and save lives. They have pushed for wind energy, electric cars, and solar energy, all of which have their own environmental faults.
Another big push has been with offshore wind farms in places like the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. So far, many are not biting on the leases, but a few have. The idea has faces criticism, as well as actual litigation from multiple organizations, including the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF).
They have raised concerns with, of all things, the environmental issues these projects present. Robert Henekke with the TPPF says there was already a project like this in Massachusetts that had a turbine propeller fall into the ocean, causing fiberglass to wash onshore. They have raised their concerns, but Biden just does not seem to care.
"We have been trying to point out the shortcuts and ways the Biden Administration ignored environmental regulations to make this work because of political pressure," he says.
You need relatively shallow waters for these projects, so places in the Northeast and off the coast of the Carolina's are prime territory. But some of these leases have been up for auction in the Gulf of Mexico, right on our doorstep.
The administration has even waived the requirement for companies to clean up after themselves in these projects. That means they can leave the hazardous material in the ocean and leave us to deal with it when it washes ashore, and causes our own problems.
The great bit of irony here is that these green projects actually go directly against the Democrats green agenda.
"These are machines...they leak oil and are made of chemicals...they are laying electric cables on the ocean floor...all of this will have consequences," he says. "It is being completely ignored too because the Biden Administration does not want to recognize the problems."
Environmental concerns have been noted up and down, but there are other issues that go well beyond that.
"It is a national security concern...these interfere with our radars...it is a safety issue, you cannot perform maritime rescues near these," he says.
Yet, the Left will just keep pushing this idea, like they are trailblazers saving the planet. When in reality, they are just making things far worse.
In the end, Henekke says this issue will likely end up with the Supreme Court. But until then, Biden will keep pushing these projects, and he might push the country to the brink of disaster while doing it.
