Debby made landfall early Monday morning along Florida's Big Bend with winds estimated at 80 mph. Shortly after landfall, power outages skyrocketed to above 250,000 utility customers in the Sunshine State.
The storm has killed at least four people; a man, woman and two children.
By midweek, the storm is expected to dump extreme amounts of nearly 2 feet of rain on parts of Georgia and South Carolina.
Meantime, forecasters are watching another tropical wave. According to Eric Berger at Space City Weather, "The global models have been all over the place in regard to what will ultimately happen to this system over the next 10 days. Although it’s conceivable that an organized tropical system could ultimately come to Texas, that is just one of a range of many possibilities. Since it’s August, we’ll need to watch the tropics closely now.
