The Biden-Harris administration has taken back a plea deal that was reached earlier this week with terrorists involved in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Defense Secretary Austin canceled the plea agreement on Friday. Pentagon prosecutors had originally agreed to a plea deal with three of the terrorists allegedly involved in the planning of the attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin ‘Attash and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi. It was expected the three men would plead guilty to lesser charges that would eliminate the chance of them receiving the death penalty.
Officials said the men were scheduled to appear at a hearing at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba next week.
