After months of waiting and heavy criticism from both customers and lawmakers across the Houston area, CenterPoint Energy has finally released a new outage tracker map for their Houston area customers.
Their original map went down after the heavy storms in May that caused widespread outages, and it remained down through Hurricane Beryl and the Beryl recovery efforts. This was just one of many instances of what can only be generously described as poor transparency with CenterPoint.
Houston area elected officials, including Mayor John Whitmire, Texas State Senator Paul Bettencourt (R-SD7), and Governor Greg Abbott, have all criticized CenterPoint's recovery efforts and their communication with the public.
