In his first public comments since dropping out of the presidential race, Joe Biden called into the campaign headquarters of VP Kamala Harris.
"I know yesterday's news was surprising, and it was hard for you to hear, but it was the right thing to do" Biden said over a speaker to the staff, "But we still need to save this democracy, and Trump is still a danger to the community, he's a danger to the nation."
That was followed by a :15 minute Harris word-salad.
"Let us be very clear, Joe is not done, far from it" she said adding, "I know Donald Trump's type, and in this campaign I will proudly put my record against his."
Harris announced that Jen O’Malley Dillon, who served as Biden's campaign chair and managed Biden's 2020 campaign, will help run her campaign.
"We're all filled with so many mixed emotions about this," Harris said. "I just have to say, I love Joe Biden, I love Joe Biden, and I know we all do when we have so many darn good reasons for loving Joe Biden."
"Over the next 106 days, we are going to take our case to the American people and we are going to win," she said.
Democrats must formally nominate a replacement for Biden by August 7.
