Just two days after the assassination attempt against him, former president Donald Trump told FOX News that he plans to kick things off at the RNC Convention in Milwaukee by announcing his V.P. pick.
The speculation over who Trump's running mate is finally over. As many expected, Trump is going with 39-year old Ohio Senator JD Vance to be his pick for VP.
Considered the frontrunner, Vance, a former venture capitalist and the author of the bestselling memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy," before running for elective office, was one of a handful of Republicans considered top running mate contenders. That group included North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Tim Scott of South Carolina.
The Trump campaign says the former president – following his brush with death – at the convention will call for unity in the face of tragedy instead of criticizing his political adversaries as he faces off with President Biden in a 2024 election rematch.
