Social Media is Killing Workplace Productivity

Having trouble getting things done? You're not alone. A new study shows that 60 percent of people can't stay focused at work for more than 30 minutes at a time. So what exactly is sucking up everyone's attention? You guessed it, social media.

Workplace expert Joshua Evans told KTRH, "People have become addicted to the constant dopamine hit that you get from short-form content and viral videos. It would be naïve to think that this constant scrolling wouldn't impact how we work."

Evans says being distracted at work isn't exactly a new problem, but it's definitely getting worse. He said, "Distractions have always been there, but I think that the availability of these distractions has become so easy. It's in our pockets, it's in our hand at all times."

Evans thinks that to keep employees focused, leaders should set clear expectations for their employees, as well as having specific deadlines for projects.
