Texas Representative Shakes Up The House Freedom Caucus

The conservative House Freedom Caucus seems to be turning on itself after one of their members was ousted for endorsing the chairman's primary opponent. Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) was defeated in his primary, and the caucus voted to oust Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH).

Texas Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) then decided to leave the Freedom Caucus. He told KTRH, "You know, the idea that we are gonna kick Warren Davidson out of the Freedom Caucus for this, I think is a bit too harsh."

Nehls says this type of behavior isn't the right way to gain influence inside the House. He said, "If we want to try to grow the ranks, and make this organization have more influence within the Republican conference, we have to grow it. We have to grow the organization."

Nehls says actions like this are exactly what pushes strong conservative members of the House of Representatives away from the Freedom Caucus, and he hopes they get stronger leadership in the next session.
