Houston Police say a 4-year-old girl died Wednesday after being left unattended in a vehicle in northwest Houston.
Officers and the Houston Fire Department were called to the 6500 block of Hollister Rd. near Wilshire Pl. Dr. at around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a child having a heat-related illness while in a car.
The girl was located inside a pickup truck and taken to a hospital where she later died.
According to HPD, two women and two other children who were initially in the pickup truck went inside an apartment and left the young girl behind. When it was realized that the girl was missing, the police were called.
An investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the case will be turned over to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
