AI Alert: AI’s Appetite For Energy Cannot Be Satisfied By Renewables

A.I. is growing, and along with it, A.I.'s demand for electricity. And the bottom line is, 'renewables' are not going to cut it.

"And a lot of people don't realize that your phone uses as much electricity in a typical week as your refrigerator does" said Chuck DeVore, Chief National Initiatives Officer for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, "And when we go to AI, you can multiply that by 100."

According to the International Energy Agency, the global electricity consumption by AI alone could reach 1,000 terawatt-hours (TWh) annually by 2026, slightly more than the total electricity consumption of Japan.

The reality is, we need to move on from going 'green', to plan B.

"So, if you look at that here in the U.S., what that means is, we need to start building nuclear power plants" DeVore told KTRH, "Because that's the only thing that can really feed this requirement."

Just what our already stressed Texas power grid, doesn't need.

Industrial landscape with different energy resources. Sustainable development.
