China might have path to take Taiwan without invasion

One of the main goals of the Chinese for years, outside of crippling the United States, has been to claim the island nation of Taiwan. Their President Xi Jinping has said multiple times he wants taking over Taiwan to be his lasting legacy. In the last two years, we have come closer than ever to him realizing that goal.

American ships have clashed with Chinese ships in the area, and America has moved resources to the South China Sea just to be precautious in case China does invade the island. However, there might be a path for China to taking over without ever needing to escalate that far. In theory, China could put a chokehold on Taiwan, and cripple their economy.

Author Michael Sobolik says though in reality, China would need boots on the ground to get it done, which could be something that lies with Biden in the near future.

"The goal of U.S. policy needs to be making sure that China never wakes up and decides that it is a good time to do that," he says.

Some experts also say China would go the old COVID route of quarantine, which would allow their maritime safety agents and military to institute a lockdown. That would effectively cripple Taiwan ports and other methods of economic growth.

It boils down to basically not allowing China to isolate Taiwan, which will fall under President Bident taking action. However, he is instead too focused on giving billions more dollars to Ukraine.

"This has to be the focus of Washington...we need to stand publicly with Taiwan, and make sure they can defend themselves," he says.

This all comes as Biden this week announced he is bumping Ukraine to the top of the list for receiving air defense systems. That could delay receiving the shipments for other allies like Taiwan by 16 months.

Biden has yet to truly publicly stand with Taiwan, instead mostly offering empty words and promises to keep the status quo.

"China has said their date for their military to get ready is in 2027...let's hope he does not pick this as the year to try it...but the administration has not handles these crises well, and that is concerning," he says.

Indeed, it has been botched crisis after botched crisis for Biden during his tenure in the White House. The Afghanistan withdrawal, the Israel-Hamas war, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, you name it.

Former President Trump was notoriously tough on China, which is something we really need now.

"He understands they are out to degrade the world order America has created and maintains...Taiwan is where that starts, and if we let them fall, it is going to be a very dangerous world," says Sobolik.

He adds that we are now at a breaking point, especially as American military dominance declines, and investment in it falters.
